In 2013, 14 MN Elementary schools participated in a 3 year Active Schools MN Pilot Study hoping to prove the premise that the more physical activity opportunities offered to students, the more active they become and the better their educational outcomes. This session will provide some preliminary results and success stories from the study and serve as an incentive to do the same in your schools!

Dr. Mary Thissen-Milder serves as the Physical Education Consultant at the Minnesota Department of Education. Along with the MDE Physical Education Leadership Team, she has been facilitating the implementation of the new standards and grade-level benchmarks.
